The MJ 1814 is built as a true TL 30 high security safe with materials and construction designed to defeat advanced burglary tools. Its door uses a quarter inch armor plate steel backed by a layered combination of ten gauge, eight gauge and three gauge steel with an aluminum concrete composite between hardened steel plates. This structure increases resistance to cutting, prying, drilling and impact attacks and is the reason the safe meets the UL TL 30 forced entry standard.

Fire protection is equally strong. The MJ 1814 maintained an interior temperature below 350 degrees during a two hour fire test while exterior temperatures reached 1750 degrees. This rating supports long duration fire exposure common in residential and commercial losses.
